Traveling in Himachal Pradesh by train can be an exhilarating experience. A UNESCO World Heritage site, the Kalka-Shimla Railway line is one of the oldest in India and the most important in the state. Most of the important cities are well-connected with major North Indian cities like Delhi and Chandigarh. One can easily book deluxe and semi-deluxe buses from all prime cities in North India. Both Himachal Road Transport Corporation and private bus agencies run regular buses to all stations in the state.

The state of Himachal Pradesh is widely known to have a salubrious climate, an ideal time for visiting is between the months of April and June. The weather remains mostly mild during this time, with warm sunshine, idyllic for walks and mountaineering.

Winters at many places can be harsh. In fact, many districts including Lahaul and Spiti, and parts of Kinnaur remain closed for the winters. Snow is a major attraction, and people keep floundering around hill stations such as Shimla for the national highway connecting it with other cities remains active throughout the year.
